Hi families!

We had such a good day on Friday celebrating the beautiful story of Because of Winn Dixie. Thank you to everyone who sent in items to help us celebrate!

Report cards will go home in two weeks. There may be areas where your student has not yet met the essential standard. Everyone learns at different paces! The expected goal is to meed standards by the end of fourth grade. Students are provided extra practice and support in small groups and with individual intervention to achieve these goals.

Dear Families:

As shared at Back to School Night, we are piloting new ELA instructional materials in grades K-5. This resource offers a rigorous, knowledge building approach for our learners, engaging students in reading, writing, listening and speaking. While our commitment to addressing essential ELA standards has not changed, the order and manner in which standards are assessed in this pilot may be different than in past years. As such, you may not see a reported measure for every ELA standard on your child’s report card. Please also refer to the comments provided by your child’s teacher, as well as ongoing communication and conferencing, regarding your child’s progress in ELA. Thank you for your continued support and partnership.

Friday: To celebrate all our hard work this trimester, we will have a read-in this Friday. Students may wear pajamas and bring a blanket and pillow to cozy up with while reading. Students may also bring extra books from home because they will be reading most of the half day!

Stuff-A-Truck: Stuff-A-Truck is starting this week! Our Lincoln School Student Council is excited to be leading the way in giving back to the larger Berrien County community by collecting non-perishable (canned goods, boxed dinner/pasta) food items November 11th-21st. If you are able, simply pick up an item (or more) at the grocery store, and send it to school with your student to be donated. Thanks for spreading kindness and positivity!

Weather: With the change in weather, please make sure your child has a hat, gloves, a coat, and dresses in layers. We also ask that if possible the kids bring an extra pair of shoes or boots for recess. We allow them to play in the grass when it's wet, only if they have a change of shoes. This new carpet still looks great and we sit on the floor a lot in our room. Thanks for your help with this!
